Whiz Kids: Meet These National Award-Winning Artists
Four students at Golden Valley's Perpich Center will be honored in New York City next month.

This week we're celebrating four high Perpich students for their national award-winning artwork. Way to go!
Four local high school student artists have earned national recognition in The Scholastic Art Awards and Writing Awards of 2011. The students are all seniors at the in Golden Valley.

Their prize winning works were chosen from 185,000 submitted nationally. The top 1500 were recognized in the national competition.
The four are invited to a two day celebration in New York City on May 31 and June 1, where they will be honored in a ceremony at Carnegie Hall for the presentation of the medals.

Visual Arts senior Ansel Lies, 17, of St. Paul won the Gold Medal American Visions Award for his original video game. Visual Arts senior Abby Marolt, 17, of North Oaks won Gold Medal for printmaking. Media Arts senior Miles Taylor, 17, of Minneapolis won a Gold Medal for photography. Visual Arts Senior Amy Wilcox, 18, was awarded a Silver Medal for fiber art.
