• Hastings High School explores move to block scheduling (hastingsjournal.news) — Families in Hastings should be aware that Hastings High School is seriously exploring a shift from a seven-period day to four longer block periods, potentially starting in 2028–29. Administrators say block scheduling could expand career pathways, internships, and electives, but they're still studying impacts on music, AP classes, transportation, and graduation requirements before making any final decision.
• Hastings School Board selects School Perceptions for referendum survey (hastingsjournal.news) — Hastings residents will soon be asked for their views on a possible increase to the school district's operating referendum, as the School Board hired School Perceptions to survey every household in ISD 200. The results will guide whether a levy question appears on the November 2027 ballot, with officials stressing broad participation and clear information about tax impacts and school needs.
• Bekki Kammeyer named administrator for Hastings Veterans Home and Domiciliary Program (hastingsjournal.news) — Residents in Hastings should know that the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs has appointed experienced health care leader Bekki Kammeyer to run the Hastings Veterans Home and its Domiciliary Program. With a background in nutrition, long-term care administration, and previous work at the Hastings facility, she plans to focus on supporting staff, improving daily operations, and enhancing residents' quality of life.
