Catholic Charities Announces New Board of Directors

Eight new members join agency’s board, providing a diverse cross-section of leaders from the business, civic and non-profit communities.

MINNEAPOLIS, January 31, 2013 - Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, the largest comprehensive social services organization in the region, announced today its new board of directors. Eight new members joined the agency’s board effective January 1, 2013; Tom Arata, John Knapp, Matt Kramer, Teresa Mogensen, Margaret Murphy, Fred Owusu, Mark Stenglein and Bev Turner.

We are very excited to have these eight new board members, who bring not only a wealth of experience, but also a tremendous amount of passion and energy for the work that Catholic Charities does to serve those most in need in the Twin Cities,” said Laura King, Chair of the Catholic Charities Board of Directors and Vice Chancellor for Finance and CFO of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

Teresa Mogensen (Minnetonka) is Vice President of the Transmission business unit at Xcel Energy. In addition she serves on the board for the Minnesota Independent Schools Forum and serves as Vice Chair and Finance Committee Chair on the board of the Midwest Reliability Association. Teresa is passionate about programs supporting education, children and families.

Laura King (Hopkins), Vice Chancellor for Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is the agency’s new chair. She succeeds Darrell Tukua, who will be retiring from the board. King has served on the Catholic Charities board since 2007. Her particular area of interest is in community collaborative efforts that share talent and resources, especially as it relates to serving the aged and the poor.
