Bites Nearby: Gold Nugget — Reopened and Better Than Ever

on Excelsior reopened its doors to diners in 2008 for lunch, dinner and everything in-between.

Burgers are the restaurant’s specialty. It offers several different types including bison burgers, mushroom burgers, black ‘n’blue burgers, wild rice burger, turkey burgers, black bean burgers and even a juicy lucy variety. Every week, the restaurant features a burger special—this week is the “Chimichurri Lamb Sliders,” with a lamb patties seasoned with chimichurri—that potential patrons can find posted on the restaurant's website. 

In addition to burgers, other menu selections include ribs, “2-handed” sandwiches, salads, soups and pastas—including stroganoff, Greek chicken, and signature mac & cheese. Every day lunch soup/salad/sandwich combos are served for $7.95. Evening entrees served after 5:00 p.m. include meatloaf, porterhouse and salmon. 

Happy hour specials are available daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. offering $2 off all appetizers, $1 off taps, wines and cocktails, as well as $2 beer pitchers.  Appetizers include wings, sliders, nachos, BBQ rib sampler, fries with a variety of sauces, and the famous Gold Nuggets, cheese and onion filled tater tots with a special dipping sauce.

The full-service bar includes wines, tap and bottle beers, scotch, cognac, brandy and bourbon. The Nugget also makes specialty malts, floats and desserts that include old-fashioned cookies and milk, seasonal fruit crisp and brownies.
