(UPDATED) Boy on Bike Dies in Shady Oak Road Crash
The crash took place Wednesday night near the intersection of Shady Oak Road and Excelsior Boulevard.

(UPDATED 2:01 p.m. April 26) A 18-year-old boy on a bicycle died after a car hit him Wednesday night on Shady Oak Road, Minnetonka Police said.

The twisted bicycle rested next to a white sedan just after the crash while residents prayed in small groups in the parking lot.
The crash happened at about 8:45 p.m. on the 4600 block of Shady Oak Road, near the intersection with Excelsior Boulevard, as the boy exited a parking lot into the southbound lanes of traffic. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol doesn't appear to be a factor, according to police. The driver of the car stayed on the scene and cooperated with authorities.
KSTP reports the 18-year-old was a St. Louis Park High School senior who was leaving a function at Cross of Glory.
Further details were not immediately available. Minnetonka Police, State Patrol and the Hennepin County Crime Lab are working together on the investigation. Check back later for further updates.
