Jimmy Longoria and friends present artwork at UROC
Artist Jimmy Longoria and friends feature artwork meant to promote peace and change
On June 14, artist Jimmy Longoria and friends will host a reception for his exhibit at the University of Minnesota Urban Research and Outreach Center. This exhibit will feature his chicano-style paintings, scarves painted by Kate Hondlik, and work done by youth through Longoria's non-profit, Mentoring Peace Through Art. This non-profit works to inspire change in youth through art in order to build stronger communities and minimize gang violence. "My passion is to make change," Longoria says, "and to get young people initiated in the process so they are able to make change." Visit the reception between 5 and 7 at the intersection of Penn and Plymouth.
