Candy Buyback Brings Money for Kids, Treats for Troops

Wellspring Health Center is buying back Halloween candy for $1 per pound of candy.

What do you do with all that candy from Halloween?  Don’t eat it. Sell it.

is offering to buy Halloween candy from trick-or-treaters for $1 per pound of candy. Parents will also receive a voucher for a $15 30-minute sports massage. The candy will then be shipped to troops overseas through the non-profit organization Operation Gratitude.

“Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, but now their piggy banks and health will benefit as well,” the company wrote in a news release.

Wellspring—which offers medical and physical therapy treatment for back, neck, muscle and joint conditions in kids, adults, seniors and pregnancy—noted that excess candy consumption puts children at an increased risk for diabetes, heart disease and other illnesses.

The company will collect candy at its location at 10903 Excelsior Blvd. from Nov. 1 to Nov. 17 during clinic hours:

  • Monday: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The candy must be unopened.
