(GALLERY) Hopkins Girls Win Track and Field Championship

Hopkins girls track and field ran away with this year’s state AA championship.

The Royals’ 84 team points blew away runner-up  Alexandria’s 48 points in competition Friday and Saturday.

Strong relay performances propelled the girls into the top position. They won both the 4x400 and 4x200 meter relays and placed strong in all other relays.

Junior Mariah Witt also delivered a solid-first place victory in the 300 meter hurdles.

The boys placed 10^th among the 60 teams in the state championship. Junior Austin Salargo won the 400 meter dash by a convincing half second and anchored the fifth-place 4x400 meter relay.
