Sex Trafficking in Minnesota: Who, What Why and Where? is the topic for a community forum to be held Wednesday, July 17 from 7-8 pm in the Gallery at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Rd., Hopkins. The speaker is Christine Stark. This program is free and open to all.
Recent local headlines have brought attention to the fact that sex trafficking and prostitution occur in suburban, urban and rural areas throughout our state. While sex trafficking and prostitution have existed since Minnesota was founded, significant changes have occurred over the past few decades to normalize and expand these industries. This presentation and community-wide discussion will raise awareness about how and where Minnesota sex- trafficking occurs and then look at steps we can all take to combat it.
Presenter Chris Stark is an award winning author, researcher, activist, visual artist and survivor. Currently she is an MSW candidate completing a research project about trafficking in the Duluth Harbor.
