Our spring concert pays tribute to
Leonard Bernstein, the composer, conductor, and innovator who used TV to introduce Americans to classical music in the 50s and 60s. We’ll explore the enormous range of
his composing talent, from the Overture to Candide, to a medley from the Broadway
hit West Side Story, with stops along the way for the rowdy Slava! and the lyric Simple Song. Then we’ll add to the mix Norman Leyden’s Serenade for a Picket Fence, featuring our mallet percussion players, and the well- known Billboard March, by John Klohr.
