(GALLERY) Hopkins defeats Armstrong, Falls To Kennedy in Section 6AAA Playoffs

The 15-5 win over the Falcons set up a matchup with Kennedy in the section finals, where the Royals lost 25-7

Hopkins' Joey Brettinger scored an inside-the-park homerun to spark a 15-5 victory over Armstrong in Tuesday's Section 6AAA playoff game at Parade Stadium.

The win came five days after Armstrong defeated the Royals 5-1 in the section quarterfinals.

Brettinger's homer was one of  eight runs by Hopkins in the fifth inning. The Royals would go on to beat Armstrong by the 10-run rule in six innings.

Armstrong had seven hits and no errors during the contest, played during 100-degree temperatures. Hopkins wound up with 14 hits and one error.

The win set up a section championship showdown with Bloomington Kennedy at 7 p.m. The Royals lost to the Eagles 25-7, ending their season with a 13-12 record. Kennedy will play Thursday, June 16 at Midway Stadium in St. Paul in the first round of the Class AAA state tournament.
