Grading the City Manager Candidates

A look at how the search firm scored the candidates

On Tuesday, executive search firm Brimeyer Fursman presented Hopkins council members with a list of 11 semifinalists—winnowed down from 65 total applicants and 18 people who were interviewed.

Council members didn't just have a stack of resumes to go through, though. Instead, the search firm had scored the candidates in eight key areas, weighted to reflect their importance. Scores were based partly on experience, partly on answers to interviews with the search firm and, in the case of leadership, partly on a personality profile.

Of course, the council—not the scores—had the final say. Here's a look at how the candidates fared—and how closely council members hewed to the scores.
