The Hopkins Girls Varsity Rugby Team won the State Cup Consolation Championship, defeating both South and Wayzata at the State High School Rugby Tournament held at the National Sports Center in Blaine on June 8.
In the first round of the playoffs on June 5, the Royals narrowly lost to Burnsville 5-0, but came back with a solid win against South 40-0, followed by a win against Wayzata 17-12 in the consolation championship match. Royals Andrea Sanabria and Lily Strehlow each scored trys in the championship match, with Ellie Fromstein making both conversions as well as a penalty kick.
The Royals graduate two seniors Aislinn Cornell and Rose Simon.
