The Hopkins U17 boys rugby team fell to St. Michael-Albertville on Sunday with a 36-12 loss in the state championship match. The Royals, who won the title last year against the Knights, could not repeat this season at Blake Stadium. STMA finished the season with a perfect 9-0-1 record and was the state's top team from start to finish in 2011.
