Hopkins Seeks New Reserve Officers
The Police Department is accepting applications through July 20.

Hopkins is looking for residents who want to help keep the community safe.
The is accepting applications through July 20 for its police reserve unit.
Reserve officers are volunteers who help the department with a variety of responsiblities—including crime prevention, community events, animal control and parking enforcement.

Applicants should be able to volunteer at least 15 to 20 hours per month. They do not need to have studied law enforcement. All necessary training and a uniform will be provided. The volunteers receive 40 hours of training prior initially followed by ongoing instruction.

Detailed qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years of age,
- Be a U.S. citizen,
- Have a valid Minnesota driver's license,
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent,
- Pass a complete background check,
- Pass an oral interview and
- Be in good physical health with weight proportional to height.
