Hopkins Senior Receives Prestigious Art Award

The New York Life Award, which recognizes work that deals with issues of bereavement or loss, comes with a $1,000 scholarship.

senior, Paris Ebersviller, has received the New York Life Award for her painting titled "What we forget," depicting her and her grandpa. The award is special segment of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition that recognizes students who submit work that deals with bereavement or loss. Ebersviller will be nationally recognized at Carnegie Hall in New York City this month.

To be considered for the special New York Life Award, teens in grades 7 - 12 need to submit work that deals with issues of bereavement or loss. Nearly 12,000 entered their work for consideration. Each of the New York Life Award winners received a $1,000 scholarship

Ebersviller's piece also received a Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key Award in January. She, along with three other Hopkins students, will continue to compete at the nationally level in New York, as well.
