Hopkins Track Coach Named Coach of the Year

The Minnesota State Track and Field Coaches Association named Coach Nick Lovas as its 2011 Girls’ Class AA Coach of the Year, according to a release.

Last year, Lovas coached the Hopkins girls team to —as well as a conference title, and . The team also .

Hopkins girls also won the Lake Conference championship in 2010 and 2008 and a section championship in 2008.

“Nick is a rising star in this business and has already had some great achievements,” Activities Direct Dan Johnson was quoted in the news release. “He has built the girls’ track program into the best in the state and has multiple championships to show for it. He is a very knowledgeable coach that has developed sincere style.”

Lovas, who also teaches social studies at , will receive his award Jan. 27 at a banquet during the annual Track and Field Clinic.
