Tonia Sorenson died Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a car Friday in Uptown, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office confirmed. Sorenson was hit Friday night just after stepping into the street at the intersection of Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street. Three other women with Sorenson had minor injuries but declined treatment.  The Minneapolis Police Department's traffic unit is evaluating the case. The result of the investigation should take a couple weeks.
