'Night to Unite' Expects Citywide Participation
The Aug. 7 event is designed to foster more connected, safer communities.

Minnesota Night to Unite, formerly known as National Night Out, is set to begin across Hopkins neighborhoods on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m. A spokesperson for the Hopkins Police Department told the Hopkins Sun Sailor that almost every neighborhood within the City of Hopkins’ four square miles had registered an event.
Scheduled annually for the first Tuesday evening in August and sponsored in part by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, the event is meant to celebrate and strengthen community and neighborhood partnerships throughout Minnesota and the United States. Neighbors are given the opportunity to meet with each other, as well as emergency services personnel, during informal neighborhood gatherings like block parties and cookouts.
Members of the Hopkins' Police and Fire Departments are expected to attend every party that registered with the City of Hopkins, answering questions and getting acquainted with the residents they serve.
