(UPDATED) Bad Pool Chemical Mix at LA Fitness Sends Two to Hospital

The pool employees—who work for a private pool maintenance company contracted to maintain the LA Fitness pool—inadvertently created a toxic vapor cloud.

Two pool employees were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center after incorrectly mixing chemicals Monday at the Hopkins , police Sgt. Michael Glassberg said.

One of the men remains in critical condition after an incorrect mix of chemicals created a vapor cloud that caused inhalation injuries.

Hopkins firefighters responded to the scene at 11:13 a.m. following a report that a 29-year-old and 31-year-old man were having trouble breathing.

Emergency personnel evacuated the pool area and locker room while fire personnel cleared out the hazardous chemicals.
