(PHOTOS) Rugby Teams Compete in Raspberry Festival Tournament
Eleven teams participated in 'sevens'-style matches at Maetzold Field.
Eleven rugby teams braved Saturday’s blistering heat to compete in the Hopkins Raspberry Festival’s rugby tournament at .
The tournament used a style of rugby know as "sevens"—seven players on a team playing two seven-minute halves. It's the same style of rugby that will be played at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, said tournament organizer Sarah Goeman.
She’s proud of the sport's growth, both around the world and in Minnesota.

There were originally supposed to be 12 teams in the tournament, but the Duluth team wasn't able to come. That changed the schedule, causing some teams to play their matches closer together than originally scheduled. Some teams played up to five games over the course of the day.
In order to give some teams time to rest, players held scrimmage games between themselves in between the scheduled games.
