SLP Man Suspected of Fraudulent Charges at Local Businesses

A St. Louis Park man is accused of using another man’s credit card to rack up $413 in fraudulent charges at Hopkins and St. Louis Park businesses, according to charging documents filed Friday.

Police arrested 41-year-old Roddee Shane Rottum on Wednesday shortly after he made a suspected fraudulent charge at , Hopkins Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg wrote in the charging documents.

During a search after his arrest, officers found a credit card that had been illegally used at numerous locations and items fraudulently purchased at Walgreens and .

A search of Rottum’s Aquila Circle apartment uncovered ink cartridges and a printer cable illegally bought at Target, receipts from two fraudulent Target charges and a receipt from a fraudulent purchase at the .

In all, prosecutors accuse Rottum of making fraudulent charges at the following stores:

The victim, Charles Vandervort, told police Rottum had done chores for him for a number of months. Rottum had last been at Vandervort’s apartment Tuesday to take out his trash for him. Vandervort’s wallet had been sitting on a desk at the time.

Rottum has been charged with felony transaction card fraud, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

He is being held in Hennepin County jail on $5,000 bail. He is also being held on gross misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, for which bail has been set at $3,000.
