Sports Roundup: Hopkins Girls Tennis Prepares For Postseason
Royals claim No. 3 seed for Section 6AA Tournament, begin playoffs on Monday.

With several Hopkins squads still jockeying for playoff positioning, the Royals girls tennis team has already wrapped its regular season and is preparing to enter the post-season next Monday.
Girls Tennis
After concluding a 9-7 record in its pre-playoff campaign, the Hopkins girls tennis team was awarded the No. 3 seed and a pair of byes in the Section 6AA Tournament.

The Royals will host either Minneapolis Washburn, Southwest or Robbinsdale Cooper in the sectional quarterfinals at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. A victory advances Hopkins to the semifinals at the Lakeville Lifetime Fitness on Oct. 13, with the finals to be played later that same day.

The Hopkins volleyball team won in its first match in a week on Tuesday, topping Class AA's No. 4-ranked Jordan 3-1 at home to improve to 7-8 on the season.
The Royals, 0-4 in the Lake Conference, play at circuit rival Wayzata—ranked seventh in Class AAA—at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Boys Soccer
The Hopkins boys soccer team tied Centennial, 1-1, in a non-conference game on Monday, bringing its record to 4-8-3 overall.
In its regular-season finale on Thursday, the Royals have an opportunity to play spoiler at they play at Wayzata. Hopkins, 1-4-2 in the Lake, can wreck the Trojans' hopes of a conference championship by beating or tying their hosts in a 7 p.m. contest.
Girls Soccer
With two-straight losses, the Hopkins girls soccer team will be looking to close out the regular season with a win at sixth-ranked Wayzata at 5 p.m. Thursday to hit the .500 mark before the sectionals begin.
The Royals lost 1-0 to ninth-ranked Centennial on Monday, after falling 2-1 to Minnetonka on Oct. 1.
With one game to go, Hopkins is 4-5-6 overall and 1-2-4 in the Lake.
Results from the Hopkins cross-country team's appearance in a meet in Willmar were not reported.
