Hopkins athletic teams eased into their post-Labor Day schedules on Tuesday as only a small sampling of Royals squads returned to competition on the first day of school.
Hopkins Girls Soccer
A 0-0 tie at No. 3-ranked Edina got the Lake Conference schedule started for the Hopkins girls soccer team on Tuesday.

The deadlock gave the Royals a 2-1-1 record. It was the second of three consecutive games for the squad against ranked teams, the final contest of the stretch comes on Thursday as Hopkins hosts No. 7 Eden Prairie at 5 p.m.
Jillaine Young leads the Royals with two goals on the season, with Cody Webster, Corbin Boyd, Paris Ebersviller and Leah Chase also netting goals so far this autumn.

Hopkins Boys Soccer
The Hopkins boys soccer team dropped to 1-3 on the season with a 4-0 loss at No. 2 Edina on Tuesday in its Lake Conference opener.

The Hopkins girls tennis team was rudely introduced to Lake Conference play by means of a 7-0 loss to Minnetonka on Tuesday.
The defeat dropped the Royals to 4-2 in dual matches this season as the team prepares to host Minneapolis Southwest at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Hopkins Cross-Country
Gale Woods Farm in Minnetrista will host a cross-country invitational featuring both the Hopkins boys and girls squads at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Hopkins Girls Swimming and Diving
The Hopkins girls swimming and diving team takes on Lake Conference rival Wayzata at North Junior High at 5 p.m. Thursday.
