Zoning And Planning Approves Upgrade to Navab Bros. Building
The upgrade would add 3,400 square feet to the building.

The Navab Brothers building is on track to get a makeover.
The Zoning and Planning Commission signed off on a plan Tuesday night that would add 3,400 square feet to the building’s second floor, install an elevator and redo the exterior with glass and stone.
“As you can see, it’s quite an improvement to the existing building,” City Planner Nancy Anderson told commissioners.

Building owner Alex Ugorets said a small insurance agency is already lined up to move into the building, which is located at 7900 Excelsior Blvd. The upgrades make room for that company in addition to making the building “look like a nice office instead of an old factory.
“I just tried to make it look modern,” he said.

Ugorets said he could use the extra room. Although the building has about 137,000 square feet of space, it is at capacity with about 20 tenants.
Commissioners unanimously approved the proposed changes.
“That is a huge improvement,” said Commissioner Bob Hatlestad. “It already looks nicer, but that is a big improvement.”
The City Council will consider the site plan at its meeting next week.
