INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN — The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the three people found dead inside an Inver Grove Heights home Sunday, and police say preliminary findings indicate the incident was a double murder-suicide.
Investigators say the incident appears to have been contained within the residence, and Jaymison Shaw has been identified as the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
The victims are identified as Jamie Lee Charles, 43, of Inver Grove Heights, Jaymison Samuel Shaw, 22, of Inver Grove Heights, and Willie Samuel Shaw Jr., 19, of Inver Grove Heights.
Officers were originally called to the 3200 block of 78th Street East for a welfare check on an individual and located three deceased people inside the residence upon arrival, police said.
At the time, police said there was no known threat to the public, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted investigators at the scene.
Police asked the community to give those impacted the privacy, care and assistance they need in the days and weeks ahead.
The department also acknowledged the emotional impact incidents like this can have on responding officers, dispatchers and emergency personnel, saying it remains committed to supporting those affected.
Police said anyone experiencing a mental health crisis, struggling with thoughts of suicide, or needing support can reach out to the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988, Dakota County Crisis Services at 952-891-7171, or NAMI Minnesota at 1-800-273-8255.
