Elizabeth (nee Hopponen) was born on Aug, 28, 1924 to Victor and Hilma Hopponen in New York Mills, MN. She died on Jan. 28, 2012. She graduated from NY Mills High School as valedictorian in 1942. Elizabeth graduated from the University of Minnestoa in 1947 with a Public Health Nurse degree. At the U she joined the Cadet Nurses Corps during WWII. Her first employment was as the school nurse at Litchfield MN and last at Hubert Humphrey Job Corp teaching Nursing Assistants. She was proud to be the middle of five children. Preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Hilma; brothers, Dr. Ray & John; sister, Joy; son-in-law, Darrell Kip Larkee. Survived by her husband, Robert I., who she met while working as a city-school nurse in Winona, MN; son, Scott (Janna) Highmore, of SD; daughter, Jill (Douglas) Hiroskey, of Neenah WI; five grandsons, Eric Larkee (Lou), Jarred Larson, Jason Larkee (Rachel), Adam Larkee, Graham Larson; two great grandsons, Brewer Kip and Miller Joseph Larkee; sister, June (Larry) Wise. Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7600 Cahill Ave E, Inver Grove Heights. Visitation with family one hour prior to service. Interment Ft.
