Community Corner

Friendship Volunteer

Many of our elderly neighbors in the community are unable to leave their homes and do not receive many visitors. Friend volunteers will develop a one-on-one relationship with their assigned Neighbor. Neighbors vary in age and
physical health and abilities. Volunteers visit their Neighbor at home to play a game, share a hobby, or sit and listen. Some volunteers choose to take their Neighbor on non-medical errands such as a haircut, grocery shopping or out to lunch.

A minimum of a one-year commitment is required. Volunteers should expect at least 2 hours of service each week. Volunteers must pass a criminal history check, driver's license check, reference check, and 2 screening interviews to be eligible. Training, regular check-in meetings and ongoing support is provided.
