AFS Intercultural Programs is now looking for host families for high school exchange students arriving from around the world in August. We have opportunities to welcome a student in to your home for a full school year (10 months), a semester, or as a welcome family (6-10 weeks). Inver Grove Heights is a great community and Simley High School - as well as others in the area - are very supportive of AFS students.
Local AFS Volunteers will support you and your hosted student throughout your experience to help you both receive the most from your time together. You provide a bed and meals for your student, but most importantly, you should be eager and excited to share your life and activities while providing the same kind of care, support, and comfort as you would to your own child or family members. Of course, hosting an international student means more than providing a bed and meals. As an AFS Host Family, you'll transform your own community while learning about a new culture. You'll also help a young person discover the U.S. right from your home. Any kind of family can host!
