international Experience - USA (iE) is a non-profit student exchange organization. We place high school exchange students from around the world with loving host families across the United States. These students arrive in August, and they stay for 5 to 10 months. This is an academic as well as cultural exchange, and the students attend the local high school while they are here.
We're currently searching for loving and caring families in the area who are willing to host an exchange student for the upcoming school year. Many different family units qualify: couples, single people, retirees, families with children, empty nesters, etc. To become a host family, you must complete an online application, criminal background check, reference check, and an in-home interview.
Our kids come from many countries including Germany, China, Finland, Serbia, Turkey, Montenegro, Thailand, Columbia, France, Belgium, Italy, Iceland, Austria, and Switzerland. They are all between the ages of 15-18 years old. They all have passed an extensive interview and selection process, and will arrive with adequate academic and language skills to thrive in the United States.
Qualifying host families must provide the student with his or her own bed, but the student may share a bedroom with a same-sex host sibling. Host families must provide the student with meals, but the student has his or her own spending money for such things as going out with friends, clothes, trips, school supplies, personal items, sports fees, etc.
