Eight metro-area colleges are teaming up to host the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Community and Technical Transfer & Job Fair on March 29 in Minneapolis.
The event is free and open to all students and recent alumni of the participating schools: Anoka Technical College, Century College, Dakota County Technical College, Hennepin Technical College, Minneapolis Community and Technical College, Normandale College, Saint Paul College and Inver Hills Community College. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Great Hall, Coffman Union at the University of Minnesota, 300 Washington Avenue SE, Minneapolis. Free transportation will be provided from most participating college locations.
"Job fairs continue to be relevant in today's job market, even with online applications, because people still make the hiring decisions," said Sarah Hover, director of career development at Inver Hills. "That's why meeting potential employers face-to-face at job fairs can be so important."

All participating employers will have positions available. The fair is open to all students, though most available jobs are related to career programs, such as those in the information technology, health care, human services, business, finance, education, manufacturing and technical arenas.
This year's event will also feature a transfer fair with representatives from colleges and universities in the area. In addition, students and alumni will have the opportunity to participate in 20-minute breakout sessions on interviewing skills, résumé tips and transfer preparation.

"The college's message to students is that they can start their educational career at Inver Hills and transfer to a number of bachelor level institutions, guaranteed, but preparation is a key component," Hover said. "The MnSCU Community and Technical Job & Transfer Fair provides a venue where students can start exploring the transfer planning process and meet with transfer specialists from a variety of colleges and universities."
All participants must register to attend. Inver Hills students and alumni can register online at www.inverhills.edu/jobfair. Inver Hills students and alumni are encouraged to attend a 30-minute information session prior to the event. For more information, visit www.mnscufair.org.
