Visitation senior Janelle Bute, daughter of Julie and Paul Bute of Inver Grove Heights, received the Mary Rosacker Owens Awards on May 13. This award, which is bestowed annually and includes a monetary gift to be used for a student’s college tuition, is presented to a Visitation senior whose contributions might otherwise go unrecognized and who best emulates Mrs. Owens’ enthusiasm for the school and her commitment to volunteerism.
According to Liz Hewitt, who presented the award to Janelle on behalf of the school’s Alumnae Association, Janelle “brings both talent and tenacious hard work to the classroom and models excellent work habits, which other students note and try to emulate.” Teachers commended her hard work in English and religion classes, in particular, and noted her contributions to the school’s all-girls robotics team, The Robettes. She has also volunteered for several years at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
