BLOG: Why am I Running Against Joe Atkins?

One thing I know from knocking on doors this past few months is that Joe Atkins is a pretty popular guy around Inver Grove Heights. He does food drives. He does a nice job with public relations, and he knows what to say to win elections.

He has been elected to serve the people of Inver Grove for his entire adult life. He has soundly defeated every opponent he has faced his past 10 years in the Minnesota House.  

So why on earth would anyone want to run against him? Why on earth would I want to run against him?

Because we deserve better.

We cannot continue electing career politicians and expect that our government will start being accountable to We the People.  

I will spend the rest of this month blogging about Joe's votes and letting you decide whether you want to keep the status quo, or if you want someone who will represent you better.  

My campaign is based on the premise that you can run your life better than government can.

My main goals as your State Representative are to protect life, protect liberty, and to protect your property. That is the proper role of government and one which serves the people best.

I am certainly NOT a career politician, nor do I aspire to be. Once you become a career politician, and not a citizen legislator, the lobbyists and special interests come knocking. My ONLY interest is protecting your personal and economic freedom.  

I believe that when we live free, we live better. I look forward to sharing that message with you, and helping you make an informed decision on November 6th.
