"You're crazy to visit México" I have had so many of my friends respond this way since I announced my intention to spend about 3 weeks in Mexico this summer. My plan is not to visit so much tourist destinations, but the state of <a href="http://www.mexconnect.com/articles/211-the-state-of-michoac%C3%A1n-mexico-resource-page" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Michoacán</a> and to strenghthen my Spanish skills and understanding of Mexican history and cutlure. The Mexican state of Michoacán is know in the USA for being home to several of Mexico's biggest drug cartels and tons of violence created by infighting amonst those cartels. Here is my point, I disagree! I believe that I will be fine, as long as I take appropriate precautions. These precaution really are not much different than if I were to travel to any other country. I believe that I will simple need to be a bit more vigilant. No biggy, right? I think so. Any how, I plan to leave in the next couple of weeks, I got June 6th penciled in. Trying to find the right airfare and date combinations, don't ya know.
