Capitol Review: Feb. 9, 2012

Inver Grove Heights state representatives have  worked on new legislation in the first few weeks of the session.

Among the bills they authored and coauthored in the past week, Rep. Joe Atkins (D-39B) and Sen. Jim Metzen (D-39) each coauthored house and senate sister bills supporting mixed solid waste services.

Atkins:

* Authored a public health bill which would expand the prohibition of bisphenol-A in products for young children. HF 2137

* Coauthored a bill to permit wagering on certain professional or collegiate sporting events. HF 2056

* Coauthored a bill authorizing inverse condemnation by a mixed municipal solid waste services business when a governmental entity occupies the market. HF 2084

* Coauthored a motor vehicle bill regulating salvage titles; modifying the disclosure of motor vehicle damage. HF 2136

Metzen

* Authored a higher education bill to expand the disclosure requirements for private institutions. SF 1647

* Coauthored a HF 2084 house companion bill authorizing inverse condemnation by a mixed municipal solid waste services business when a governmental entity occupies the market. SF 1647

* Coauthored a gambling bill to allow the state lottery to establish gaming machines at a licensed racetrack; imposing a fee on gaming machine revenue; providing powers and duties to the director; dedicating money for education. SF 1684

* Coauthored a jobs creation bill state procurement policies; establishing the Buy Minnesota Act. SF 1771.

* Coauthored a taxation bill modifying the small business investment credit; providing a credit for start-up and emerging Minnesota businesses. SF 1774
