For area homeowners, weekends in April are often set aside for spring cleaning. The story is quite the same for Twin Cities nonprofits who need help with landscape clean-up, sorting and pitching, painting, general fix-up and more at their respective facilities. And Comcast and NBCUniversal are reaching out to lend a helping hand.
On Saturday morning, April 26, more than 2,000 Comcast employees, family members and friends headed to dozens of Twin Cities project sites as a part of Comcast Cares Day during National Volunteer Week. Dozens of those volunteers took on an ambitious community project at Hmong American Partnership (HAP), located at 394 University Avenue W. in St. Paul. HAP is the largest Hmong nonprofit in the world supporting more than 25 programs and serving community members from a diverse array of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Volunteers assisted with outdoor spring cleanup by raking leaves, planting shrubs and trees and painting.
"HAP was thrilled to have so many volunteers from Comcast helping with spring clean-up in the University/Frog Town neighborhood where we serve so many families,” said Bao Vang, president and CEO of HAP. “We value our corporate and community partners and appreciate the chance to work together to cultivate and maintain pride in our neighborhood."
