English-Meeker & Kandt Funeral Home Gets New Name

Family-owned business became known as Kandt & Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services on Jan. 1.

A company that has served residents of Inver Grove Heights and South St. Paul for 71 years has changed its name.

On Jan. 1, English-Meeker & Kandt Funeral Home, 140 Eighth Ave. N., South St. Paul, became known as Kandt & Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services.

Jeff Kandt, company president and resident of Inver Grove Heights, said nothing else has changed about the family-owned firm.

“No ownership changes have taken place,” he wrote in an email to Patch. “We felt it was time to have a name which matched who we are.”

Kandt co-owns the funeral home with South St. Paul resident Paul Tetrick.

According to the company’s website, the funeral home opened in 1941 and was purchased by Jeff’s father, Myron, and uncle, Russell, in 1957. After Russell returned to the family farm in 1979, Jeff joined his father in the family business in 1985. The two worked together until Myron’s death in 2000.

Tetrick joined the company in 2003. He has been a licensed funeral home director in Inver Grove Heights and South St. Paul since 1984.
