“The Shadow Box” by Michael Christofer tells the story of three very different families dealing with a terminal disease. The families are staying in separate cottages on the hospital grounds. There is Agnes and her mother Felicity, estranged by the latter’s dementia; Brian and Beverly, whose marital complications are made worse by Brian’s new lover; and Joe and Maggie, unready for the strain of Joe’s impending death and its effect on their teenager.
