On Saturday, November 30th I took my family to Feed My Starving Children for one of my community service projects. It was fun to bring them because it was a rewarding activity we could all participate in, and for some of them it was their first time ever doing it. I have participated in this project a few times before, including once during my candidacy. It continues to be one of the best and most fulfilling service activities I've done. It was really touching that they tell the story of a child who has been affected by starvation and how by using the food we had just made, their life could change immensely. The presenter showed a video with a young girl in it that had really big dreams and was determined to be everything she wanted to be in life, and with the food from FMSC, she is on the that path. He said one day she walked through the doors of the building and was actually there in person, saying hello and thanking them for what they do. It was very uplifting to know that we had done something like that by just filling bags of food for an hour. It was the first time I've ever worked the machine to seal the bags, and was also able to weigh and fill them, so it was fun to switch positions. My whole family worked at a station and we met a few other people who were working with us. We bagged lots of food because we moved pretty quickly! It was nice to see everyone involved, supporting me in my community service project as well as giving back to those who really need it. I will definitely keep on helping out here because it truly does make me feel good to use my time to help others.
