Football Friday Preview: Simley vs. South St. Paul

Simley faces Classic Suburban Conference co-leader South St. Paul on the road Friday.

Simley (1-3 overall, 1-3 in the Classic Suburban Conference) vs. South St. Paul (4-0 overall, 3-0 in the Classic Suburban Conference)

PLAYMAKERS

  • Jake Short (Simley—Running Back)
    Had his best game of the season as he rushed for 166 yards on just nine carries and two scores against North St. Paul.
  • Cody Hazelett (Simley—Tight End/Linebacker)
    Leads the team with 30 tackles and 4 and one half tackles for loss.
  • Sam Sura (South St. Paul—Running Back)
    Three-sport standout who was a KARE-11 preseason All-Metro selection. He has rushed for over 190 yards in two of his last three games.
  • Harrison Rund (South St. Paul—Quarterback)
    Rushed for 1,057 yards and 23 touchdowns last year, but completed just ten passes all season for a rushing-dominated team. However, he has showed off his arm this season with 228 yards passing and 338 rushing yards.

SPARTANS WIN IF...
They can keep the South St. Paul ball-control offense off the field. They were outscored by the other two Classic Suburban powers St. Thomas Academy and Mahtomedi 70-0 and need to keep their defensive players fresh.

PACKERS WIN IF...
They can keep doing what they have been doing. The Packers have outscored their opponents 165-7 this year and have not lost a regular season game since 2009.
