From costume contests to ghost stories, here's a list of local Halloween events taking place in Inver Grove Heights

  • Halloween House Decorating Contest
    When/Where:
    Various locations throughout Inver Grove Heights. Judging takes place on Wednesday, July 26.
    What: Deck out your home with skeletons, carved pumpkins or other Halloween-themed items and then register to participate in a city-sponsored decorating contest. The owners of the spookiest house wins a prize. Call 651-450-2585 by Oct. 24 to register if you'd like to participate.

  • Family Haunted Bonfire
    When/Where:
    6:30-7:30 p.m. in
    What: Bring a lawn chair and listen to ghost stories while you cook hot dogs and s'mores over a campfire in South Valley Park. A featured storyteller from Inver Glen Library will be on hand to regale you with creepy Halloween stories. Register by Thursday, Oct. 20.
    Cost: $3 per person (adults and children).
  • Boo Bash and Trick-or-Treating
    When/Where:
    6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at the Armory Gym in .
    What: The city will host its eighth-annual Boo Bash for families. The party includes games and crafts, and children are allowed to go trick-or-treating in the gym. Costumes are encouraged!
    Cost: $5 per child (free for adults).
  • Scary Skate
    When/Where:
    6-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Veterans Memorial Community Center.
    What: Come in costume and enjoy a spooky night with your entire family on skates. Skate to chilling music, play games and enjoy a treat.
    Cost: $5 per person.

  • Halloween Party at Jersey's
    When/Where:
    9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 29 at .
    What: A Halloween costume contest, cash prizes and music from Junk FM, a cover band that plays everything from Bon Jovi to Lady Gaga.
    Cost: $8 cover charge.
