Bert Strassburg, Inver Grove Heights Community Schools' director of curriculum and instruction, is one of four finalists for the job.

An administrator with Inver Grove Heights Community Schools is among four finalists to become superintendent of the East Metro Integration District.

An EMID press release says Bert Strassburg, District 199’s director of curriculum and instruction, will be interviewed on Wednesday for the integration district’s vacant superintendent job.

Inver Grove Heights is one of EMID’s 10 member school districts. Among the other member districts are South St. Paul, West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan and St. Paul.

According to its website, EMID is a “collaborative effort that fosters voluntary integration” among its 10 districts. To meet its mission, EMID operates Harambee Community Cultures/ Environmental Science School in Maplewood, Crosswinds Arts and Science School in Woodbury and the Multicultural Resource Center in St. Paul, and sponsors “collaborative initiatives including professional development and youth programming.”

The Pioneer Press says EMID has been without a superintendent since last month, when interim leader Jerry Robicheau resigned. In addition, the district has been dealing with proposed school closures and financial issues.
