UPDATED: Inver Grove Heights Man Dies in Boating Accident
42-year-old Timothy Francis Anderson drowned after his boat tipped over on Dilly Lake in Wisconsin.

A 42-year-old Inver Grove Heights man drowned Saturday evening after his boat overturned on Dilly Lake near Spooner, Wis.
Timothy Francis Anderson and a woman were riding in a small boat when Anderson stood up, slipped and fell overboard, according to a press release issued by the Washburn County Sheriff's office.
His fall caused the boat to capsize. Both occupants of the boat attempted to swim to shore, but Anderson was unable to make it, the press release said. The two were picked up by a husband and wife out boating on the same lake. Although life jackets were present in Anderson's boat, neither he nor the second occupant were wearing them when they fell in, police say.

Emergency responders administered CPR to Anderson at a landing on the lake. He was eventually transported to Spooner Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident took place before 8 p.m. on Saturday night.
Adverse weather wasn't a factor in the accident, according to Recreational Safety Warden Mark Little, who said Anderson tried to use a paddle to stay afloat while he swam ashore. The maximum depth of the lake is 10 ft., Little added.

The majority of drowning accidents occur with small watercraft, and it's especially important to wear a lifejacket while in a small boat, Little said. In this case, the boat was a 12-foot-long rowboat, according to the warden.
“We ideally recommend that people wear their life jackets when they’re in their boat on the water,” Little said.
