Inver Grove Heights School Pine Bend Takes The Kids Heart Challenge

Pine Bend Elementary School students have been learning about heart health, getting active, and raising funds for the American Heart Association (AHA) for more than 30 years as part of Jump Rope for Heart, now called the Kids Heart Challenge. Over the years, Pine Bend’s participation has secured a spot for the school as one of the Top 5 fundraisers in the state and Top 20 in the nation. Each year, students raise thousands of dollars to help the AHA reduce the number of heart disease and stroke victims while students discover new and fun ways to jump rope.

This year, students spaced out in the gym to safely jump rope and raise funds. Students showed each other tricks and created new ways to jump rope. More than half of the school also pledged to take Finn’s Challenge. The challenge is inspired by Finn, a 6-year-old boy born with multiple heart defects who spent the first eight months of his life in the hospital and is now living a full life. Students who take the challenge strive to drink more water, get active more often, and do more acts of kindness for a healthier life.
