As you may be aware, multiple people in Minnesota recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Though we are in constant contact with the Minnesota Department of Health and they have not recommended school closures at this time, as of today, March 12, it is still important to practice preparedness.
We are asking that families make sure their emergency contact information is up to date in Infinite Campus:

As of March 12, there are no recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to close schools. We are constantly working with MDH to do what is best for our community, and if that were to include closing one or more of our schools, we would communicate such an announcement directly to families through the automated call system that we use for emergency closings, like Snow and Cold Days. The additional communication channels that we use for Snow and Cold Days would also be used. To review those channels, please visit our Emergency Closings webpage at https://www.isd199.org/parents/emergency_closings.
The district continues to regularly disinfect frequently touched surfaces in addition to routine cleaning procedures, encourage hand hygiene in our buildings, monitor the situation around COVID-19, and refine our preparedness plan based on guidance from health officials. During Spring Break each year, our buildings are also deep-cleaned.
Though very few cases of COVID-19 have been reported in children, we want to ensure a safe environment for all staff and students, including those who may be at higher risk. Thank you for your help keeping all staff and students healthy.
The district has created a Coronavirus 2019 webpage, www.isd199.org/district/coronavirus_2019, with information for families that will be consistently updated. For more information about COVID-19, visit the Minnesota Department of Health's webpage: www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/index.html. The Minnesota Department of Healthβs coronavirus hotline is also available at 651-201-3920 for questions.
