I have been attending Inver Grove Heights Days since I was a kid, and I definitely have some favorite events. I tried to narrow it to a Top 10 list, but finally gave up and went with 11... plus a bonus event.
Please join me at these and other IGH Days activities. IGH Days kicks off on Thursday and runs through the weekend.
11) Fishing Contest. There's a goody bag for every kid at this free contest, plus prizes. Saturday, 8-10am, Simley Pond.

10) Royalty Coronation. Crowning of the 2014 royalty and recognition of the tireless efforts of this year's great group. Saturday, 4:30pm, Simley auditorium.
9) Simley Sports. Though not technically Inver Grove Heights Days events, I am a big fan of Simley sports and appreciate that Athletics Director Will Short always tries to make sure the Spartans have home games during IGH Days. This year you will find me in the stands for the girls soccer match vs. St. Peter on Saturday at 1pm. (I'll be resting up after the Parade Food Drive - see #1 below)

8) Family Fun Night. Lots of games and prizes for elementary age kids. Friday, 5:30-7:30pm, Hilltop Elementary School.
7) Taste of the Grove. Enjoy samples of great food from IGH restaurants. At $10 for all you care to eat, this is a great value and a cool fundraiser for the Simley Theater Guild. Saturday, 6-8pm, IGH Middle School Cafeteria.
6) BINGO. Does it get any better than old-fashioned bingo under a big tent? All weekend, Village Square parking lot.
5) Explore IGH. With a car show, public safety display, a ton of free activities for the kids, and other events, there is something here for everyone. Sunday, 11am-4pm, Cahill between 65th & 68th.
4) 27th Annual Pet Contest. Longest tail, best trick and owner/pet look-a-like events highlight the annual pet contest. I have happily agreed to Dr. Winsor's request to be a judge again, so long as he measures tails and whiskers. Sunday, Noon, Village Square lot.
3) Fireworks. Saturday, 9:30pm, Simley Pond.
2) Bike the Bridges Ride. Usually organized by Mayor Tourville and me, the bike ride is on a one-year hiatus due to my torn Achilles and recent surgery. But it is still one of my favorite events.
1) IGH Days Parade - and FOOD DRIVE. We'll again be pushing grocery carts in the parade this year, collecting food, household and school supplies for our local food shelf. My main goal in physical therapy has been to make sure I can push a grocery cart in the food drive. Saturday, 11am, Cahill from 65th to 80th St.
BONUS: Joe's Big Tent Event. Tim Drkula and I have hired a band to play 80's and 90's hits under the big tent on Thursday night. Please join us. Thursday, 6:30-10pm, Drkula's parking lot.
