Owners Give Dogs Away After The Pets Woudn't Stay Indoors

Earlier this month, after police involvement, a family gave up their pit bull and Korgie pets.

There are two fewer dogs in Inver Grove Heights after a couple from the 4800 block of Bryce Avenue gave their pit bull and corgi dogs away.
On Jan. 1 a neighbor called to report unleashed dogs were in his yard. Police arrive to the neighborhood and found the accused dogs being let inside by their owner.
According to the report, the owner, a 27 year old man, told police he and his wife had a hard time keeping the dogs in the house and not running in the neighborhood, but other than that they were good pets.
The 1.5-year-old unregistered dogs were a problem in the area, the owner admitted, and the family was “considering finding homes for the dogs because they are constant runners that he could not seem to keep indoors since they bolt out,” the report said.
The couple told police they would make a decision in the next week as to what to do with the dogs. The police suggested they connect with area humane societies and Animal Arc.
The mother asked if police officers would talk to the children about the dogs going away for safety reasons in attempt to help with their grief.
On Jan. 9 the police connected with the family and found out the corgi was given to the Woodbury Humane Society the day before but the pit bull wasn’t.
“(The dog), the pit bull, didn’t pass the test they gave her for dog aggression,” so they decided to give her to a friend who lives on 13 acres in Woodbury.
