Simley High School qualified both relay teams and individuals in four events for the finals of the 2011 boys Class A swimming and diving championship Saturday. Simley High School's 400 freestyle relay team of Nate Briguet, Alex Jurrens, Tim Luhr and Alec Kandt qualified with the second fastest time in Friday's prelims with a 3:17.99. In the 200 freestyle relay, Simley's team of Jurrens, Kandt, Luhr and Briguet had the third fastest qualifying time with a 1:28.95 race. Simley sophomore Kandt had the fastest Class A qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke with a 59.40, and also qualified second in the 100 butterfly (52.68). Simley's Briguet qualified fourth in the 100 freestyle (48.42) and Jurrens was eighth in the 50 freestyle (22.21). The state meet finals will be held Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, starting at noon.
