Registration for Simley High School Fall Athletics is Aug. 7

Summer vacation soon will be over for fall-season athletes at .

Registration night for Spartan fall sports—cross country, girls tennis, boys and girls soccer, football, girls swimming and diving, and volleyball—is scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Simley High’s cafeteria.

Then, the following the Monday (Aug. 13), practice begins.

According to the Inver Grove Heights Community Schools’ website, the Aug. 7 meeting will open with registration from 5:30 to 6:30. That will be followed by a presentation by athletic director Will Short at 6:30. Team meetings will be conducted beginning at 7 p.m.

Here are the first varsity contests of the season for the Spartan fall teams, according to the Classic Suburban Conference website:

• Cross country—Tuesday, Sept. 11, Classic Suburban Conference meet at St. Croix Regional Park, starting at 4 p.m.
• Girls tennis—Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Litchfield Invitational, 9 a.m.
• Boys soccer—Thursday, Aug. 23, Tartan, 7 p.m.
• Girls soccer—Saturday, Aug. 25, at Park (Cottage Grove), 7 p.m.
• Football—Thursday, Aug. 30, at St. Thomas Academy, 7 p.m.
• Girls swimming and diving—Thursday, Aug. 30, conference relays at the Grove, 6 p.m.
• Volleyball—Tuesday, Aug. 28, at North St. Paul, 7 p.m.
