Simley High School hosted the Region 3AA MSHSL Instrumental Solo & Ensemble Competition on March 10. Four schools were represented: Richfield, Henry Sibley, St. Thomas Academy, and Simley. Each band student or ensemble prepared a musical selection and presented it to a judge. They were graded in the following areas: tone quality, intonation, rhythm, balance and blend, technique, interpretation, articulation, and execution.

Simley had 118 students participating in 95 entries. Nearly all of the entries received the two highest scores: 50 received a “Superior” rating and 41 received an “Excellent” rating.
